Free Advocate Diary 2026 – PDF & Excel Download
A printable diary for every court working day of 2026 and an Excel workbook with the same columns. No sign-up, no watermark, no cost.
What is inside
The PDF
- A cover page with space for your name, enrolment number, chamber, mobile number and bar association.
- One page for every Monday to Friday in 2026 (261 pages), with the date and weekday in the header and a 12-row table for the day's cases.
- A cause-list sheet for each month, to copy next dates into as soon as the court gives them.
- A 200-row case register, the index to every file in your chamber.
- A client fee ledger with Agreed, Received and Due columns.
The Excel workbook
- Case Register: 200 numbered rows; Fee Due is a formula (Agreed minus Received).
- Daily Diary: every working day of 2026 pre-filled with its date and weekday.
- Cause List and Fee Ledger sheets with date and money formats already applied.
- Tomorrow: lists every case in the register whose Next Date is tomorrow, using TODAY()+1, so you can check your board before you leave the office.
Advocate diary format: what each column means
Both files use the same ten columns on the daily page. They match the fields in the Digital Lawyer Diary app, so moving from paper to the app later is a straight copy.
| Column | What to write |
|---|---|
| Sr. No. | Running number of the entry on that day's page. |
| Case No. & Year | The court's registration number with its year, for example CR 123/2026. Use the court's number, not your file number. |
| Court / Judge | The court, bench or judge before whom the matter is fixed. Write the courtroom number if you know it. |
| Parties | Petitioner or plaintiff versus respondent or defendant, with your client underlined. |
| Stage / Purpose | Why the case is listed: arguments, evidence, framing of issues, compliance, an application. |
| Last Order | One line on what happened at the previous hearing, so you can brief yourself without opening the file. |
| Next Date | The date given by the court today, or 'adjourned sine die' or 'reserved' if no date was fixed. |
| Fee Received | Money received from the client today, with the receipt number. |
| Fee Due | Balance outstanding after today's receipt, so you know before you walk into court. |
| Remarks | Anything to do before the next date: documents to file, a witness to summon, a client to call. |
How to use it
- Print the PDF double-sided on A4 and bind it, or print one month at a time.
- Every evening, open tomorrow's page and copy in the cases from the court's cause list (see where each court publishes it).
- In court, write the order and the next date before the next case is called.
- After court, copy each next date to that month's cause-list sheet and record any fee received in the ledger.
- Once a week, go through the case register and confirm every active file has a next date.
The full routine, with a ten-point checklist, is in How to maintain an advocate diary.
Who it is for
Advocates in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh who appear in the High Courts, district and sessions courts, family courts and tribunals, and who want a diary laid out the way court work actually happens: by hearing date, with the fee position beside the case. It suits a first-year junior keeping their senior's board as well as a chamber that wants one register everyone fills in the same way.
Prefer not to print?
Digital Lawyer Diary is the same diary as an app: enter a case once and it shows you tomorrow's hearings, reminds you before each date, keeps the fee ledger and lets your junior update the order from court. It is free for individual advocates and works offline on your phone.
Questions about the template
Is the Advocate Diary 2026 really free?
Yes. Both the PDF and the Excel workbook are free to download, print and share with colleagues. There is no sign-up, no watermark on the working pages and no trial period. If you later want reminders and a diary that syncs to your phone, the Digital Lawyer Diary app is free too.
Which dates does the 2026 diary cover?
The PDF has one page for every Monday to Friday in 2026, from 1 January to 31 December, plus a cause-list sheet for each month. Public and court holidays vary by court and province, so every weekday is included and you simply skip or strike through the days your court is closed.
Can I edit the PDF or the Excel file?
The PDF is designed for printing and writing by hand. The Excel workbook is fully editable: the Fee Due column is a formula (Agreed minus Received), the Case Register drives a Tomorrow sheet that lists every case whose Next Date is tomorrow, and you can add rows or columns to suit your practice.
